MGSA’s Fall Fastpitch 2018

The objective of all MGSA softball programs is to provide a fun, learning fastpitch opportunities for our girls and young women.  The MGSA Fall Ball program emphasizes individual player development in a less competitive environment than is present during the Spring/Summer season.  Fall Ball is viewed as a valuable stepping stone to the next Spring/Summer season. Many players will be moving up to a new age division and some players will be new to Fastpitch entirely.

The Fastpitch Committee has decided that for 2018, Fall Ball teams will be formed the following way (assuming 4 teams):

12U ABBC

10U ABBB

The fastpitch committee will use a combination of Flexx scores from March 2018, age divisions, and experience to form teams for fall.

The Flexx scores will be reconfigured to rank girls by their fall peers.  (2006 v. 2007).  For 10U, the 2nd year players will be ranked in order to form one, 2nd year team.  The remaining players will be distributed among other B teams.

Please keep in mind that Fall Ball is a 5 week season.

General Rules

Fall Ball provides an opportunity for players to learn about the game and gain experience playing fastpitch. Because of fall weather conditions and Sunday play, all games will be scheduled for 1 hour and 5 minutes – allowing for the last inning to be completed, and one inning of international tie breaker if the game is tied.  Free substitution and round robin batting is mandatory.  5 run per inning rule during 3 week league play for 10U and 12U, with 10U keeping the rule the entire season.

Fall Ball Age Levels (based on participation)

8U – girls ages 8 and under (born in 2010 and 2011)

10U – girls ages 10 and under (born in 2008 and 2009)

12U – girls ages 12 and under (born in 2006 and 2007)

14U and Older community teams will not be formed.  MN Whirl is the option for these ages.

Fall Ball Locations

Games are played away from Minnetonka, for example: Chaska, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie, Wayzata, and Orono.  Teams may be assigned to Legacy.

Practices are conducted at Legacy (MHS) and other local fields in the school district of Minnetonka.  Teams practice two times per week until school starts, then they have one practice per week until the end of the season.
